The Ethnic History Symposium, convened in Glendive on 22 Apr. 1974 was one of five related conferences held throughout the state. Tapes from the symposium address the settlement of eastern Montana; the influence of ethnic immigrants during the 1900-1925 homestead period; and the activities of such diverse ethnic groups as the Danes, Amish, Italians, German-Russian Mennonites, Poles, Irish, and Scots. Also included is a talk by Professor Philip Tideman, of St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, entitled "Frontier Images on the Northern Plains."
